All together. Our electrics and automation solutions under the X-Pact® brand name cover all areas of open-loop and closed-loop control as well as monitoring for aluminum hot and cold rolling as well as strip processing.
They ensure the many systems in your aluminum works operate in harmony. Energy supply and distribution, drive technology, instruments, and automation including production planning are exactly matched to your mechanical equipment. The current status of your plant, e.g. the wear of the rolls or the thermal condition, is continuously fed into our process models. This leads to constant optimization of the process parameters, supporting the product quality and productivity of your plants.
Aluminum hot rolling mills. Rolling force, torque, rolling speed – everything must be properly coordinated to achieve consistent high product quality and plant productivity. Our process models are geared to this goal. Pass schedule calculation using our T-roll® model uses simulation of the roll gap to determine the precise pass schedules for each material rolled. Depending on the temperature limits for different product groups, our highly dynamic technological controls for thickness, profile, flatness, and width guarantee exact compliance with the geometrical dimensions and the desired quality of your rolled products.
Aluminum cold rolling mills. Apart from the technologies described above, cold rolling also benefits from our X-Pact® flatness control together with CVC® plus technology. Our Special Crown Roll (SCR) with variable crown gives you ideal flatness even when the rolls are cold after a roll change. We developed our Hot Edge Spray (HES) system especially for thin strip plants. It acts reliably and quickly to prevent tight strip edges by precision-spraying heated rolling oil onto the rolls. Our flatness measuring roll also helps keep the strip flat. It is ideal for use in aluminum plants, where it controls the actuators for flatness control.
Aluminum foil rolling mills. The thinness of the strip means that during aluminum foil rolling, the work rolls permanently touch each other at either side of the strip edges. Therefore it is not possible to influence the strip thickness and flatness by opening and closing the roll gap or with work roll bending. The answer: our X-Pact® thickness and flatness control for aluminum foil. It is a compact solution that optimizes strip thickness and flatness in one go. This system takes the rolling process as a whole into account and uses the interactions between rolling force and work roll bending to achieve the best possible thickness and flatness performance simultaneously. Additionally, it actively controls the thermal crowns of the work rolls to perfect the rolling process and to stabilize the strip transport. This means our X-Pact® automation includes features that go beyond the usual controls for aluminum foil to guarantee you even more productivity and quality.
Aluminum strip processing lines. Anybody who wants to achieve perfect results must understand the processes involved here in depth. We have extensive experience inprocessing aluminum strip. And we have applied this know-how in our X-Pact® products. Our range of solutions for electrics and automation covers everything from pickling to strip cleaning and annealing, right up to coating. That’s how we ensure you produce consistent, reproducible surface qualities.
