Cleaning exhaust air from smelting. Steel production generates unwanted gases and dusts. That’s where SMS Siemag comes in with modern and efficient plants. Significant here is their flexibility plus modular design. You can choose from individual, build-on elements, such as extraction equipment, pure gas burners with torch flares, gas tanks and gas treatment systems, or go for a complete package. We also supply filter technologies for gas cleaning tailored to your plant configuration. Among them are a dry electric filter for new converter steelworks, and an innovative wet electric filter for revamps, both developed by our subsidiary SMS Elex.
Cleaning used air from rolling processes. Cold rolling aluminum and stainless steel strip inevitably generates oily waste because of the rolling oil necessary for the process. Extractor hoods and washing plants such as our Airwashâ„¢ system are the SMS Siemag answer. The Airwashâ„¢ system filters rolling oils out of the fumes generated by aluminum cold rolling mills. Assuming an average-sized plant, it separates around 100 liters of rolling oil out of the waste gas per hour. Then, after filtration, the rolling oil-washing oil mix is distilled into its constituents. The result: clean air, recovered rolling oil for the next rolling process, and regenerated washing oil for cleaning more waste air.
