We have been revamping the 2.8-m heavy-plate mill at Ural Steel since 2005. In addition to the modification of existing equipment, the order includes the installation of new components, in particular a new four-high finishing stand with a roll force of 60,000 kN, laminar plate cooling and a hot plate leveler. We are updating the two-high roughing stand through the installation of new mechanical screwdown systems, drives and a new roll-change system.
The objectives of these measures are to enhance the production, to enlarge the range and offer more demanding steel grades, and to improve the product quality. All revamping work will be completed in 2008.
