Ilsenburger Grobblech, Germany
From 2002 till 2007 we revamped, in several steps, the heavy-plate mill in Ilsenburg which we had built in 1982. The objectives of the revamp were the enlargement of the product range, the improvement of plate quality and the stabilization of the entire production process.
Among the most important modifications made on the millstand were the installation of new hydraulic roll-gap adjustment systems, the upgrading of work roll bending and the renewal of the automation. The hot plate leveler was provided with a new hydraulic roll-gap adjustment system and a new automation system.
Ilsenburg also invested in a new laminar cooling system for the ultra-fast cooling of the plates out of the rolling heat and intermediate cooling during thermomechanical rolling. Plates of up to 50 mm thickness are leveled by a new cold plate leveler with individual roll-adjustment system.
