5-m heavy-plate mill, Baosteel, China
The Baosteel plant which went into operation in 2005 has set new standards in plate manufacture. Thus, as the first of its kind in China, the four-high millstand possesses CVC® plus-technology for excellent flatness and a high yield. The innovative plate cooling system combines spray and laminar cooling. Its particularly high cooling capacity means that plates of higher strength and ductility than in conventional cooling facilities can be manufactured. All of the other components are also designed, without exception, for the production of top-quality plate grades.
In 2008 we shall be supplying Baosteel with a new roughing stand for the plant, which will enable the total production to increase to 1.8 million tons per year.
