Production more than doubled
Shanghai Meishan, China. Some 30 years after the hot strip mill at Shanghai Meishan went into service, we converted it in two stages into a compact, high-performance mill. As a result, the company increased its production from 1.2 to 3 million t per year and now rolls hot strip to today’s quality standards. It took a stoppage of just 37 days for the first conversion stage and two stoppages of 25 and 14 days in the second phase, so there was only minimal disruption to production.
