Carbon or stainless steel – TISCO has the choice

Taiyuan Iron & Steel, China. China’s largest stainless steel manufacturer was able to put a new hot strip mill into operation in June 2006. It has an annual capacity of 4 million t, half of which Tisco plans to use for stainless steel and the other half for carbon steel grades. What makes the new plant stand out apart from this versatility is the fact that Tisco can use it to produce stainless steel strip with final thicknesses of just 2 mm. That’s down to the seven powerful finishing stands and the coilbox, which ensures the transfer bars are evenly heated.
