Taking charge of processes. When it comes to improving the performance of your modern hot rolling mill, X-Pact® electric and automation plays a key role. Included here are physical process models and technological control systems that determine the setting and regulation of the rolling process from the furnace exit right through to the coiler. Our control for the rolling sequence optimizes the throughput of your plant. All this is designed to achieve one goal: exact, stable control of the geometrical and material product properties during the rolling process. To ensure this consistently, we precisely match the model, control and regulation package as well as the electrical systems to your process and mechanics.

Hot strip mills. Installing our patented and integrated Camber-Free Rolling in your rougher practically eliminates wedging in the thickness profile and cambering of hot transfer bars. That is supplemented by our modern electric and automation systems for the rolling processes and the cooling.

Steckel mills. Building on our extensive experience, we develop exact pass schedules as well as process controls for Steckel rolling mills. An essential part of this job is allowing for the huge, process-critical temperature differences between the various passes. Only then can you manufacture products of stainless steel grades and special alloys in consistent quality.

Heavy plate mills. Our automation packages for the production of tube plate, high-strength and thin steel plate on heavy plate stands focus on exact temperature and plate geometry control through the high number of reversing passes. That is accompanied by our ACC accelerated cooling that ensures homogenous material properties across the entire plate.

Modern and reliable. Our integrated solutions comprising process models, technological controls and process sequence controls stand out not only for their cutting-edge technology, but also because they are tried and tested. Each day, around the world, they demonstrate how reliable they are in practice.

You get a constant profile along with perfect flatness of your rolled products with our Profile and Flatness Control (PFC®) together with CVC® plus  technology. And precise thickness is the result of our Observer-based Automatic Gauge Control. It adjusts the hydraulic actuators to the various rolling requirements.

What is the right roll gap setting? Our Pass Schedule Calculation (PSC®) knows the answer. It determines the exact values based on models of the stand and the forming process. This is supplemented by the data from our new Recrystallization Model and our extensive Material Data Base (MDB).

To stabilize the rolling process even in difficult situations, our plants are fitted with control systems such as our Roll Alignment Control (RAC) and Thrust Force Compensation (TFC). Ideal for perfect strip travel during hot rolling are our Automatic Leveling Control (ALC) and special measuring devices for tension distribution such as differential tension and tensiometer loopers.
