Valuable vacuum
Our achievements. The Ruhrstahl Heraeus (RH for short) recirculation degassing process has proven its excellent suitability for operations with short batch times in more than 130 plants (most of them for BOF converters with tap weights of up to 400 t). There are plenty of advantages associated with our RH-TOP plants. Due to short treatment times and minimum temperature losses, they attain exceptional decarburization and degassing results. Furthermore, they are highly efficient and cost-effective because they do not require any special slag measures or ladle free board, and also operate without any tuyere bricks.
Application fields of the RH process:
- Decarburization to minimum values
- Degassing (removal of hydrogen and nitrogen)
- Efficient alloying / fine alloying at high levels of accuracy
- Rapid homogenization of the ladle contents even with additions of large quantities of silicon
- Vacuum deoxidization and intensive desulfurization

- Stationary vessel (ladle lifting system)
- Movable vessel (vessel lifting system)
- Fast-vessel-exchange system for higher availability
- Duplex vessel for higher availability
