The challenge. Using secondary steel producing processes like degassing or desulfurization results in substantial losses of heat temperature. It is simple to make up these temperature losses by overheating in the smelting unit prior to tapping. However, this in turn causes a range of problems. It reduces the productivity of the smelting unit, increases the consumption of refractory material and leads to a higher absorption of unwanted gases.
The solution. Now, with our ladle furnaces, you can benefit from the perfect solution to these drawbacks. We have successfully been making ladle furnaces for several decades, during which we have installed more than 200 plants in electric and converter steelworks with tapping weights of more than 400 t. That proves the superiority of our ladle furnaces over other designs.
Application field for the ladle furnace process:
- Electrical heating
- Desulfurization using metal / slag reaction
- Alloying / fine alloying
- Slag supply
- Profile regulation
- Homogenization of the ladle contents
- Buffer function between smelting unit and continuous caster to ensure sequence casting
Design advantages:
- Fixed hood
- Swingable hood
- Two treatment stands and / or two ladle cars for greater availability
- Conductive bearing arms made of copper or aluminum sheet
- Inert gas hood or special applications
