Long campaigns, short treatment

Efficient processes. Long converter campaigns with little wear, low-maintenance or maintenance-free components, perfect treatment results in short times, fast converter changes – we design all our converters to meet these demands. Depending on the steel grade or process route in your steelworks, we offer you LD converters for carbon steel or AOD-L converters and MRP-L converters for stainless steel. What are the differences? Essentially, during the AOD-L procedure, side nozzles blow in the oxygen with initial support from the top lance. The MRP-L option means that the top lance alone blows in the oxygen, while inert gas is injected via stirring bricks in the converter bottom to ensure optimum bath mixing. Correspondingly, the vessels for each process come in different designs.

Effective design. It is obvious that converters are subject to high thermal loads, so we use highly heat-resistant steels for our converter vessels and trunnion rings. To ensure the heat-induced expansion of the vessel does not cause any damage, we have developed special suspension designs. Lamella suspension is ideal for stationary converters, while the best choice for change converters is our clamping element fixing. There are also various solutions for the trunnion rings – closed rings with air cooling or U-shaped, water-cooled trunnion rings. You will also appreciate our converter drives that are designed to compensate the extreme dynamic loads on the converter. Low-wear features also include our sublances (for measuring temperature and taking samples) and our blowing lances. This means you only need to change one of our blowing lances on average after 800 heats in an AOD-L converter. Slag retaining devices, converter lining devices and bottom inserting devices round off our all-inclusive program.
